Forget groomsmen …. A Syracuse couple got what they were after Saturday night when 3 huge wrestlers from the WWE barreled into their wedding reception.

Roman Reigns, R-Truth and Jimmy Uso (none the groom) were at a bar in the hotel when they heard the reception and made their way in.  What they didn’t know — the bride, Beth Samuels and her freshly-minted hubby Matt were huge WWE fans.

Beth knew the WWE was having a show in Syracuse so she sent an email to the wrestling org inviting any of the wrestlers who might be looking for something to do.

Turns out the 3 guys didn’t have a clue about the email … they just dropped by and stayed 45 minutes.

Only thing more awesome … if one of the guys face-planted someone in the cake.

Raw

Although Roman Reigns was not apart of the Monday Night Raw three hour broadcast, he did participate in the dark match main event. Here is what happened after cameras stopped rolling.

The crowd seemed to be spent by the end of the night. Not a huge reaction for the closing segment. It would do wonders for the product if the show was reduced to two hours.

As soon as the show went off the air, John Cena’s music hit and he came out for the dark main event. His partner was Roman Reigns, who came down the ramp instead of through the crowd. They faced Seth Rollins (still in dress pants) and Rusev.

1. Roman Reigns and John Cena defeated Seth Rollins and Rusev in six minutes. Reigns, who was cheered loudly, hit Rusev with a Superman punch, which setup an AA from Cena. Reigns then speared Rollins and pinned him for the win, as Cena also hit an AA on Rusev to stop any chance of him breaking up the pin.

WWE United States Champion John Cena recently spoke with Rob of talkSPORT. The full interview can be found at this link. Here’s  what Cena had to say regarding the fan reactions towards Roman.

Advice for Roman Reigns on handling boos:

“The advice I have for Roman is just be yourself because at this point if you try to change who you are to cater to the audience, especially the audience that is chanting, they will eat you alive. Over the 13 years I’ve been here in WWE, I get more obscure chants than anyone else. But the fans know I love this, they know I show up all the time for all the events, they know I put my life on the line, they know I pour my heart out and although they chant I think there is – or I’d like to hope there is, anyway – that underlying respect there. He will be fine as long as he remains true to who he is. If Roman tries to change who he is or tries to redefine himself that authenticity will be gone so he just needs to stay the course and keep doing well.”

It the biggest week in the career of WWE superstar Roman Reigns as he will be in the main event of WrestleMania 31 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA on Sunday where he challenges Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

It’s been an interesting journey for Reigns who was a member of the succesful faction The Shield until the group went their separate ways last year. Since then, he has been on the path to becoming one of the top stars in the WWE. That’s hasn’t come with controversy though with fans viciously booing him after he won the Royal Rumble, instead hoping that it would be Daniel Bryan getting the championship match at WrestleMania.

Reigns is also currently part of a Snickers campaign where they are asking fans “Who Are You When You’re Hungry” where someone will win $50,000. Sporting News spoke with Reigns just days before his big match at WrestleMania 31, any pressure he feels, the mixed reaction from the fans and more.

Sporting News: When did it really first hit you that you’re going to be in the main event of WrestleMania?

Roman Reigns: You know, it was kind of a double take. I was fortunate enough to win the 2015 Royal Rumble match which, in most scenarios, sets you up to be in the main event which that was the case for about 12 hours or so. And then I had to put that on the line, I had challengers. I was going to have to take on either Seth Rollins or Daniel Bryan for the #1 contendership. Fortunately for me, I was able to beat Daniel Bryan at Fast Lane and recapture my main event spot against Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. I would say as soon as I got that 1-2-3, when I beat Daniel Bryan, that’s when I knew OK, things are back to normal now.

S/N: What is that feeling like? Was it nervousness, excitement? Is it something where you feel pressure once you know you’re going to be in the biggest match on the biggest show of the year?

Reigns: I think it was a little bit of both. When you’re doing what I do every single day, even if you’re not at the highest level of our business of sports entertainment, there’s a lot of nerves. There’s a lot of pressure and there’s always that pressure to perform. And it’s only magnified more at the level I find myself at now. For me, I just to focus on the excited energy, the enthusiasm and hopefully with that enthusiasm I can create momentum.

S/N: What do you think that emotion is going to be like on Sunday when your music hits and you come down to the ring?

Reigns: I think it’s going to be awesome. I think it’s exciting. Everything for me is exciting about WrestleMania. You know, it’s not only the match but there’s so many opportunities that we get this week. For me, I’ve been able to do some awesome things. As you know, one of the great things I’m doing today is partnering up with Snickers. The huge question is who are you when you’re hungry? That’s the contest that we’re putting out there. We’ love to see everybody’s ultra egos. As soon as you feel like you’re a bit out of character, take a bite of that Snickers bar and everything’s going to feel better. All the fans can do me a favor and check out the Snickers homepage (www.Snickers.com) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/snickers) and you’ll get to see so many cool details about the contest. You can check out my commercial and my wacky alter ego when I’m hungry and hopefully you’re a little bit different than I am. You don’t want to catch yourself being insecure or a little anxious when you’re on TV.

S/N: Have you been surprised from the split reaction from the crowd in the last few months leading up to WrestleMania?

Reigns: No, not at all. Where we’re at now, with the internet and the whole Facebook thing, with Twitter, you’re able to connect and reach out to your fans more and see what they’re feeling. Fortunately for me, I do get that mixed reaction and that’s the thing. It’s a mixed reaction. Some days are stronger boos, some days are stronger cheers but for me, I like to focus on the support, focus on all the positivity. I have a lot of great fans out there who believe in me and that’s more momentum for myself. It’s always nice to get some positive reinforcement. I just want to thank all my fans and all my supporters out there. That’s my goal is to make my family proud, to represent my family, myself and my fans.

S/N: What the best advice you’ve gotten recently from family, especially since there are so many of them that have been a part of this business?

Roman: Yeah, that’s the great advantage that I have, being able to tap into those kinds of resources. In the WWE and many walks of life, you’re always going to have these awesome experiences and have people around you that you can really learn from. For me, it was just represent the family. Be yourself and stay humble.

Mstarz.com recently spoke with Roman Reigns to promote WWE’s WrestleMania 31. Check out the interview below:

Roman Reigns

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns will compete in the main event of WrestleMania 31 on Sunday against Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

His inclusion in the match has generated plenty of controversy amongst some fans who feel that the 29-year-old competitor is not ready for or undeserving of the spotlight. Regardless of the fans’ thoughts on the matter, the Samoan-American is in the main event Sunday and seems hungry to tussle with the Beast Incarnate.

Reigns took the time to speak with MStars today, three days before the biggest match of his life, about Lesnar’s re-signing with WWE, his preparation for the title match, what other matches he’s looking forward to on Sunday, and his involvement with the Snickers “Who Are You When You’re Hungry?” campaign.

This was already a major week for WWE given the buildup to WrestleMania 31, but the spotlight shined even brighter on the company when Brock Lesnar officially announced that he had decided not to re-join the world of mixed martial arts and re-signed with WWE. So given that, what has Mania week been like for Reigns?

“It’s been pretty cool actually,” he said. “There’s no way to prepare for something like this. You have to be thrown in the fire and fortunately for me I’ve always responded well when I was thrown in the deep end.

“Regarding Brock, as a competitor, it doesn’t change my mindset at all. As long as he’s there Sunday, it doesn’t matter to me. But as a part of WWE and a part of the family, it’s good to have Brock locked down. It’s good for the WWE, it’s good for Brock and it’s good for his family. It’s just where he’s supposed to be. Hopefully when I beat him this Sunday, he’ll have a few chances to get [the WWE World Heavyweight Championship] back.”

There may be no real way to prepare for the main event of WrestleMania, but the former Shield member still has a few days left to get ready. So how has this week differed from his usual preparation before a match?

“For me, a standard week is five shows, five performances, three live events, and then a couple of TVs in that week, and then you mix in a bunch of travel and minimal time at home,” he said. “But this is a big event, the biggest entertainment event in the world. It’s a little different because we’re in the same location all week and I can bring my family.”

Reigns has spent his time checking out Levi’s Stadium, the new home of the San Francisco 49ers and the site of this year’s Mania. He’s even gotten the chance to work out in the weight room of the new building.

And then there’s the Snickers campaign, in which fans can post photos, memes, and videos of themselves being hungry for a chance to win $50,000 and take over the YouTube homepage for a day. Reigns and fellow WWE personality Renee Young participated in it.

Needless to say, this is not the Roman Reigns we see on television every week who is, in his words, “in ass-kicker mode” when he goes down to the ring.

“It’s a hilarious situation,” Reigns said, “because as I’m sure you know, anything can happen when you’re hungry.”

Reigns and Lesnar will headline WrestleMania 31 on Sunday, but there are plenty of other matches on the card for fans to enjoy. But which match, other than his own, is Reigns most looking forward to watching?

“That’s the tough part. I’m probably not gonna be able to [watch on Sunday],” he said. “Being in the main event, there’s gonna be a lot of time I’ll need to be focusing and preparing both mentally and physically.

“But we have the WWE Network, so I’ll easily be able to go on my iPhone and check out everything that happens.

“We have Sting vs. Triple H, Bray Wyatt vs. the Undertaker, the Intercontinental title ladder match with some of the hungriest, youngest guys in the game. And that’s something I’m proud of and something I brag about, the makeup of this locker room.

“And then on top of that, you have my old partner Seth Rollins taking on the Viper, Randy Orton, so I think that’s gonna be a good one as well.”

FOOTBALL fan Roman Reigns has joked Wayne Rooney would go down and stay down if the Manchester United skipper sparred with him.

The Sun on Sunday revealed Rooney was sent crashing to the kitchen floor of his £3.5million mansion in Cheshire after a blow from pal Phil Bardsley during a get together in February while wife Coleen and their kids were enjoying a break in Barbados.

And although Wrestlemania main eventer Roman, 29, was signed as a defensive tackle to the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL before his WWE career, he still keeps tabs on action in the Premier League.

He laughed: “I am a football ‘proper’ fan, I love soccer.

“With my schedule now it is harder to keep up, but especially when I was in college we watched it all the time and play the Fifa video games.”

And on Wayne’s ability to take a punch, Roman added: “He may have got up from that [smack from Bardsley] but he’s never been hit by a Roman Reigns Superman punch.

“For his sake, let’s hope he never does!”

Reigns challenges WWE World Heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar in the main event of this weekend’s Wrestlemania spectacular.

Should he beat The Beast for the title, he will be cemented as the company’s chief headlining star, following in the footsteps of the likes of Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena and his cousin The Rock. It is a duty he does not take lightly.

The former Shield powerhouse told The Sun: “This is a huge role I’m in, it is a very big spot.

“I represent so many people, especially in this spot – not only my bloodline and my family, I’m representing the whole company, the WWE brand.

“For me it’s a huge responsibility. There are so many people that came before me, some of the greatest superstars ever.

“My only hope is to carve out my own path, my own niche and be remembered for the things I want to be remembered for.

“I’m not trying to be anyone else or the next anybody. I just want to be the very first Roman Reigns.

“If I can leave my mark like that, if I can touch people’s lives and help them out and bring smiles to faces, that’s what I’m in it for.“

Despite The Rock’s recent hints he could be temped to take a break from Hollywood to return to the WWE for next year’s annual extravaganza in Dallas, Texas, Reigns is hesitant to take on his megastar relative.

He said: “Where I’m at right now, with our family ties, I don’t really see that happening, but if it did happen it would be in WWE.

“Going out on a limb right now, I’d say most likely not – but this is WWE, everything can change.”

Reigns does, however, have one main event match in mind to help ensure the AT&T Stadium’s 100,000 seats are filled for next year’s show – and it would be a reunion of sorts with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, who he broke through with as The Shield.

He said: “It should be a Triple Threat match.

“The Shield reunites to fight each other for one more night.”

Dean Ambrose recently spoke with between the ropes about a number of things including his former shield brother and friend Roman Reigns. Read what he said below as well as listen to the interview(this is not the complete interview):

S/N: Obviously when it comes to WrestleMania in the main event we’ve got Brock Lesnar defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns, somebody that you know very well. What’s your thoughts on some of the backlash against Roman from some of the fans? I don’t know if you want to call it a controversy but some people are voicing out about him being in that spot right now.

Ambrose: To me on the whole, it’s funny. I was in the tin at the Royal Rumble when that was an issue, right in everybody’s face but at the same time is it really an issue because they’re making noise. Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are going to fight at the MGM Grand finally. Which sound is the crowd going to be on? Who are the people going to be behind? Who cares? You’re not even thinking about it. You just want to see the product. Nobody’s considering who the fans are going to be behind in this match. Nobody cares. So to me, as long as their in to it and making noise, cheer for whoever you want. John Cena has been steadily booed in arenas for ten years. It doesn’t mean he’s any less popular. It just means sometimes people boo him because he’s that big of a star. The bigger of a star you are, the more backlash and hate you’re going to get. So, it’s not really that big of a deal to me.

To me, it’s all like people love to discuss and dissect and people have no idea … People really don’t know anything about, not that they don’t know anything about wrestling, but, like, people don’t really know what they’re talking about. Anybody can have a — especially in today’s day and age with Twitter and all that crap — everybody on Earth can … If you have a phone and an internet connection you can have a podcast and you can be like ‘oh, let’s discuss this controversy’. It makes it out to be more than it really is because I’m in the towns with him every single night and people cheer for him pretty much every single night. He’s a big freaking star who a lot of people love which means a lot of people are going to hate him too. To me, the whole ‘will the fan accept Roman Reigns?’.  Well, they’re going to have to because he’s probably, if he wins the WWE Championship, well, then he’s going to be a big star and you’re going to tune in and watch him every single week and you can write whatever you want on your little blog or whatever. You’re going to watch him every single week on TV and you’re going to pay for the (WWE) Network and you’re going to buy pay-per-views and buy tickets and you’re going to essentially pay his bills. To me, the whole will the fans accept Roman Reigns thing is, I’m pretty bored with that. It’s like creating a story out of … That night at the Rumble it was a story. It was a pretty wild scene, unexpected or not, whatever. To me, it was like, I don’t (pause) I’m not a fan of wrestling because I care what the crowd is doing. I want to watch the match. I want to see these two guys go at it. I want to see how it plays out.

Josh Lopez spoke with former WWE Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella on The Pro Wrestling Experience. For the full interview, click here.
On Roman Reigns:

“The future. I see that everybody saying “Oh they’re pushing and shoving down our throats”. You complain that you wanted something new and here it is and yet you’re still complaining. He’s a high caliber athlete. Very nice guy. Very locker room oriented guy. The industry is going to be in good hands.”

WWE star Mark Henry recently appeared on Busted Open satellite radio with hosts Dave Lagreca, Doug Mortman, and Mike Riker. Busted Open airs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays on Sirius 92 and XM 92 from 2-4 ET, and below are some interview highlights:

Mark Henry on Roman Reigns and the fans:

“If Roman attacks Brock [Lesnar] the way he attacked Daniel Bryan at FastLane, then he can do big things. People always run off at the mouth on what people should do. I believe people should sit back and enjoy and if they don’t like what they’re seeing, tune them out. Fans have to realize that as big of an impact that they have on the industry, they’re not calling the shots. They should just sit back and enjoy the show. When fans go to football games, they’re not the ones calling the plays. There’s a different mentality with the fan base nowadays where the fans are reacting before storylines even have a chance to play out. People are commenting before stuff even happens. There used to be a time where the anticipation grew so much and that anticipation superseded everything else. However, that anticipation has lessened in today’s day and age because of all the information and media surrounding the company. Roman Reigns can definitely be the next top guy in WWE but he has to have a thicker skin and not worry so much about what the critics are saying.”

Bret Hart is of the belief that Roman Reigns is indeed ready for the spotlight that’s about to be put on him at WrestleMania

It’s a question that has been beat to death for the past few months, but it just so happens to be the hottest topic in wrestling: Is Roman Reigns ready to take the ball and run with it? There are a lot of opinions on the matter, with most of them being negative. Despite that, though, there are some people positive about the matter and one of those people happens to be Bret Hart.

Hart recently had a discussion with Live Audio Wrestling and he was posed the question about whether or not Reigns is ready to be “the Man.” And well, His response was pretty positive.

“I think Roman Reigns is ready and he is really good, I think he is a really great talent and has a lot of potential. I can see why they want to push him but I really think the hearts and minds of the wrestling fans are with Daniel Bryan. His work rate in the ring and what he gives through the match just means so much more to the wrestling fans than anything else.”
