Roman Reigns cuts a backstage promo with Renee Young.

Roman Reigns talks about the WWE Championship being his Mount Everest over the last year. The higher you get, the weaker the footing is. Every time you go 100 feet forward, you fall back another 50. This Monday he has Cesaro who is going to uppercut his face off. Reigns isn’t going to stop no matter what though, because that’s the kind of man he is. As for HHH’s offer on Monday, he doesn’t take handouts because he isn’t like Seth Rollins. He’s bringing the big fight to this tournament so he can be the sole survivor.

WWE Star Roman Reigns serves 20minutes and talks about his preparation, his private life and what motivates him. He confesses that his biggest idol is his mother, who has always been his hero. The full interview can be read below it has been translated from Spanish to English for you. Credit to 20minutos.es for the article/interview.

What do football and wrestling have in common?

Touching and how aggressive they are both. The main difference is that while there is only football competition, wrestling is a mix of competition and performance and you have to be mentally tough and physically to do both but the dynamics of a sport to another, is different. Wrestling is very important and the murderer instinct is something I’ve developed in football.

What discipline requires greater dedication?

If you want to be the best at whatever you do in life it requires dedication is 100%. I do not think one requires more effort than the other. If you want to be really good at what you do you have to focus on it. No difference in the WWE.

What would you say has been the biggest perk that has brought wrestling?

All my experience at WrestleMania, being in this position with its opportunities and responsibilities. I enjoyed every minute. They have been a couple of hard weeks of preparation, but the rewards are worth it. Just I am thinking about being up there, feeling people screaming, sharing the ring with a guy like Brock Lesnar and living in the moment.

How do you juggle your personal life with work?

It’s hard because they are not very compatible. My job is 24/7 and can not leave because I can not stop being Roman Reigns. When I go home or I’m with my family, I want to focus on them and enjoy the moment. But when I go out to dinner somewhere, I’m recognized and people want to take a picture, there are many things you have to consider. That’s the hardest part with not being at home all the time I’d like. So when I’m trying to make the most of every second.

How much work behind the struggle do we see in the show?

Dieting and workouts are part of the construction of our body. It’s another type of dedication because this is a performance it’s aesthetic, you must be physically fit. Part of the lights and shadows of wrestling. It is not easy because it involves your work schedules being a bit crazy but to get what you want, everything I feel passion for will require sacrifices. I would be at home as long as I could, but it’s a sacrifice I have to do, I can not earn money sitting on the couch. Hitting the road and going on tour in cities is going to build the future for my family.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest idol is my mother. She has always been my hero. She has dealt with everything and has brought up her children. She was a single parent for a long time. I can assure you, no doubt, that I learned how to be a good man to see a strong woman.

What are the stories behind your tattoos?

It’s a family story. All my relatives have them. Among many cousins who are in the business is our way of recognizing our bloodline. It is something we are proud to show the world and where we come from speaking, which is a blessing for us.

What goes through your head when you are against your rival?

I want to smash his face.

On your Twitter account several boys dressed you this Halloween. How does it feel to generate such admiration?

For me to have an impact, creating a personality, something that people can lean and inspire to be, it is the best the WWE Superstars can do for anyone: to become a role model.

Shirts, necklaces, gloves, toys and now a video game … How is having your face in so many places?

Never in a million years imagined I’d have my own shirt, toys with my name or would be in video games. I was a football player in college and thought that was the coolest thing in the world. I is not going through my head that there could be nothing better. It makes me feel very lucky.

What has led to the injury of Seth Rollins? Would you say that in your favor? It is a disadvantage. I do not care which side are the throats of each. The last thing you want is to see anyone hurt. It is true that in the competition we attacked and we hurt, but never want your competitor injured. Rollins is a very tough opponent, I just hope that the story is restored before his knees heal and he moves his ass back to the ring , because we need him.

The WWE title belt is in the ring but the man who regularly wears it is not there.

Triple H makes his way to the ring.

Michael Cole mentions the injury suffered by Seth Rollins and how he will be out for 6 to 9 months. As a result, the WWE Title has been vacated.

Triple H is ready to address the crowd. Hunter wants to take a moment to acknowledge a great champion. He wants to acknowledge Seth Rollins. When Steph and I picked Seth Rollins to win the title and be the future, he has exceeded all of those expectations.

Hunter thanks Seth Rollins for giving back to them the faith they had in him. He got through every obstacle and retained the WWE Championship. On his way to becoming one of the greatest WWE Champions of all time, tragedy fell upon Seth Rollins. In Dublin, Ireland, Seth blew out his knee.

While Seth is still the man, Seth Rollins is no longer the WWE Champion.

Who will step up and fill that void? A few weeks ago, we determined a new Number One Contender. A Number One Contender who was going to face Seth Rollins at Survivor Series for the WWE Championship. Hunter says that he wants to bring out that man right now. Hunter brings out Roman Reigns.

Hunter tells Roman it looks good. As everyone knows, there is a tournament taking place and it starts tonight to see who will be the new WWE Champion. Hunter says that seems unfair that Seth is no longer the champion. It seems unfair that while you earned the right to be the Number One Contender, you go back to the bottom of the pile and have to earn your way back up in this tournament.

Hunter says the reality is that it does not have to be that way. It could be a lot easier. It could be a whole lot easier. You don’t have to enter the tournament. These men could battle for the right to see who faces you at Survivor Series to be the WWE Champion. Hunter says that seems fair. Hunter says the reality is that back when they made Seth Rollins ‘The Future’ of the WWE, they strongly considered Roman first. Hunter says ‘strongly considered’. When Evolution was fighting the Shield, he was always scouting. You have the size, strength, speed, charisma, athleticism, and aggression. You have everything, but one thing. That one thing is what Seth Rollins had. The willingness to do absolutely everything to be the man.

That is why Seth Rollins has been the WWE World Champion and you have not. How did it feel at Wrestlemania after winning the Royal Rumble and finally earning that spot, and then almost beating Brock Lesnar only for Seth Rollins to roll in there and steal that dream from you. How did it feel? It must have sucked. You will never know. Could you have beaten Brock Lesnar? Could you have won the WWE Championship? Could you have kept this title? You will never know because Seth Rollins won that title.

All of these months later, you have all of the positives, but you have nothing to show for it. You have scratched and clawed to get back here and you have run into wall after wall after wall. Hunter says he can take away those walls. You are not being asked to do anything you have not already done. You have earned the spot. Do you want to be the man? To be the man, all you have to do is be his man.

Roman asks Hunter if he is going to get all he has earned, and all he has to do is sell out.

Hunter says that ‘sell out’ is a term that people who never had the chance to achieve chant. Do not let misguided morals get in the way. They will criticize you regardless of how you get there. You win that and you don’t want to be criticized, don’t do or say anything. See the reality of this. It comes with criticism and you will not be liked by everyone. This is everything you have wanted since you were a boy.

You wanted to put this on your shoulder. You wanted to say you were the man. You wanted the respect that came with the title. You don’t want to die with it saying ‘everybody liked me’. You want a monument. The only thing more important than the title is your family. Hunter says he is talking about setting up his daughter’s daughter. All you have to do is be his man.

Hunter offers his hand and Roman says everything he has done, he has earned it. He has never taken a hand out. No one can take that away from him.

Roman says Hunter can take his offer and he can shove it.

Hunter thanks Roman for reminding him why he didn’t choose him in the first place. Welcome to the back of the line because your match starts right now.

We go to commercial.

Seth says he will do this right now, but after taking a few steps down the ramp, he pauses and then heads closer to the ring . . . until

The music for Triple H plays and he is joined by Stephanie McMahon the revolutionary. Stephanie says if we are going to do this, we are going to make this official. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns will finally get another opportunity at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship when he challenges Seth Rollins at Survivor Series on Sunday, Nov. 22.

The Big Dog has had eight months to replay the final moments of WrestleMania 31 in his head. Reigns was seemingly on the verge of conquering Brock Lesnar and capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, until Seth Rollins stole his WrestleMania moment — and the title — by cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and going on to pin Reigns.

Ever since The Show of Shows came to a close, Reigns has been clawing to get back into the title picture. Last June, he had his hands on the Money in the Bank contract and a guaranteed WWE World Heavyweight Title Match, only for Bray Wyatt to foil his championship dreams. The Juggernaut was then sidetracked from the title picture while trying to vanquish The Eater of Worlds. He brought his rivalry with Wyatt to a brutal end inside Hell in a Cell, before turning his attention back to Rollins and WWE’s top prize.

While Reigns was preoccupied with Wyatt, Rollins was busy trying to prove himself to The Authority and create his legacy as one of the greatest champions in WWE history. Though many have doubted Rollins’ mettle as champion, there’s no doubting his record, which includes wins over Dean Ambrose, Demon Kane, Sting and John Cena.

Despite his Hell in a Cell victory, Reigns still had to earn his way back into becoming the No. 1 contender. On the Oct. 26 edition of Raw, The Big Dog defeated Kofi Kingston to advance to a Fatal 4-Way Match, where he bested Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens, United States Champion Alberto Del Rio and Dolph Ziggler to get his long-awaited title opportunity.

After winning the No. 1 contendership, Reigns engaged in a tense ringside staredown Rollins, his one-time brother in The Shield. Rollins held his title high, while Reigns responded with a confident smile.

Who will walk out of Survivor Series with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? Find out Sunday, Nov. 22, at 8 ET/5 PT, live on the award-winning WWE Network!

Owens says Reigns stole one from him on Monday. “YAY! YAY! EVERYBODY YAY! GO ROMAN!”

Monday wasn’t Reigns overcoming the odds because it was just a fluke. Roman must know that he was a second away from being powerbombed and pinned. Believe that. Reigns thinks that sounds like an excuse because it was straight skill that beat Owens. Kevin can whine Owens whine, or he can come in here right now and fight Owens fight.

Back with Reigns putting him on the floor again but getting sent into the barricade this time around.
